Going back or not, it all depends on what you prefer. If you think that you are comfortable in staying here being an alien, then you should be fine. I realize that USA can provide you with the money, human rights and many other aspects but lets not forget that its not our country. If any thing bad happens to this country like financial crisis of even " thulo atankakari hamala" then these americans will make our life much more difficult just because we have brown skin.

In my opinion " aafo desh bhaneko aafnai huncha". In Nepal people are still surviving and still living a decent life. Talking about uncertainty of children returning from school, US also have problems. Remember US has one of the biggest gun crime rate and high schools and colleges often suffers from this. Load shadings, scarcity of water, these things things are not a big issue. I dont think that we are new to this problems. We are going through this situation from ages, and people are still surviving. People in Kathmandu are doing it. There is no question that we cant.

I admit the fact that Nepal lacks multi-million jobs but if you are skilled enough at least you dont have to sleep empty stomach. You might not be able to afford a cutting edge gadgets but you wont have problems buying a cheap chinese electronics and can be happy about it. It all depends upon your state of mind. A "jogi" in pasupathinath can be equally happy as a multimillionaire. How much do you think that an average Nepali family makes? Barely enough. But still our parents raise us up in a decent manner. We had a good food to eat and nice clothes to wear. If they could do it why cant us? After all coming back from US, we have better chance of uplifting our living standard. We will have some money and of-course some valuable life lessons. We will be living a decent respectable life in Nepal.

What i think is that as long as we dont have to live in poverty, there is no question of migration. I have seen some Neplease family here in US who have a child born here, who can speak fluent English but very little Nepali. Its an irony that they are proud about their children that he can speak english and even discourage to talk Nepali. Therefore I think, if I stay over here I will be alien to this country and alien to my country as well."na yeta ko na uta ko". I have grown up as a Nepali and only the Nepali passport made it possible for me to see this dream land. Its not right to    betray our mother and stay here as if we are happy. And talking about discrimination in Nepal, i would prefer discrimination from my own brothers than from any other foreigner who doesnt even have any clue of my origin. "Dignity bhannae kura pani huncha ni yar!!!"

Situation changes according to the time and choices changes as well. But at least before making such huge choice, you have to remember that you have a country. You cant call yourself  an american. Every time you have to introduce yourself, you have to mention about Nepal and at the same time you'll be missing Nepal deep down inside. We still have a choice and we can still go back. The only thing that you have to do is stop pretending like an American and give up the greed. Every thing will be just fine.

Jay Nepal.
