Curfew continues in Bhojpur

BHOJPUR: The District Administration Office (DAO), Bhojpur has continued its curfew in the surrounding areas of Bhojpur district headquarters on Thursday.
DAO had called a bandh since Thursday evening at 6 pm.
According to Babu Ram Khatiwada, Chief District Officer the curfew has been imposed in Bhojpur market, Ring Road and the adjoining areas.
The curfew has affected normal life in the area and the usual crowds have disappeared. 
The area has been reeling under tension for the past few days after students affiliated to UCPN-Maoist attacked the Bhojpur campus chief.
Meanwhile the Maoists releasing a press release announced that they would step up the protest from Thursday.
Earlier the workers of All Nepal Free Student Union had also beaten up Gopal Timilsina, secretary of YCL of Bhojpur following the attack on the Bhojpur campus chief.
According to the police they attacked Timilsina when he was at the party office. They added that he sustained severe injuries to his forehead. He is now undergoing treatment at the district hospital. 
Police had detained Makar Bahadur Khadkha, district chairman of All Nepal Free Student Union, Dhrub Raj Rai, politburo secretary of eastern region and four others on charges of their involvement in the incident.
