According to Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the first accident occurred at 12:15 a.m. approximately 13.7 miles north of Mooreland on Oklahoma 50 in Woodward County.

Balram Gautam, 23, Woodward, was driving northbound on the highway when he departed the roadway on the right, came back across the roadway, then left the roadway on the left. The 2004 Nissan hit an embankment, rolled three and a half times and came to rest on its top.

Gautam was pinned for over an hour and a half and was pronounced dead at the scene from head injuries.

The second fatality occurred at 1 a.m. approximately three miles south of Manchester on Oklahoma 132 in Grant County.

Marcus E. Duncan, 25, Wakita, was driving southbound when he left the road on the right, traveled approximately 169 feet and struck a concrete culvert. The 2001 Chevy Silverado continued south approximately 129 feet and overturned one and a half times. Duncan was ejected from the vehicle and was pinned underneath for over two hours.

He was pronounced dead at the scene from head, trunk, internal, arm and leg injuries.

A passenger in the vehicle, 24-year-old Robert N. Morland of Wakita, refused medical treatment.

According to the OHP report, alcohol contributed to the cause of the accident.
