Just a fair suggestion, it would be better if you start with SQL Server Developer and specialize in Data ware housing i.e SQL Server Analysis Services with Integration Services. The job requirements for Data ware housing is booming rather than for DBA.
As for the consultancies, ring up all consultancies that you find in Sulekha.com. Go with the one that gives you everything free :) coz consultancy does not matter ....all are same..
