Word of advice:
If you buy a guitar online, it is like buying your pants online, which normally people don't do. There is no guarantee you'll like it. That is why you go to store and try them out whether it will fit you, and most important whether you'll like it or not. No two guitar can feel/play the same, even among mass produced on assembly line brands. Hand made will  be totally different even if they look the same. Go to your local GC(Guitar Center) and play two strat which are identical in price and model. If you play it for a while, you'll FEEL the difference in playability and the feel. Look like you're trying to learn. Trust me, it is very important how you fell about the look and the playability, which will encourage or discourage you to learn further. I've been through it.
So get something from craigslist and try it out. If you don't like it, say "No thanks". Look for another one.
* don't go for the squire fender, it is pretty bad. Just a regular (Standard) stratocaster, Made In Mexico (MIM) will work much better.
