Nepali territory encroached in Parsa by India

Kantipur Report

PARSA, June 19 - Claiming that Indian side encroached about 135 hectares Nepali land at Mahadev Patti VDC of Parsa district, a local has appealed the Nepal government to help return the encroached land soon.

On Friday, Samashul Hoda Miya of Mahadev Patti-2 filed an application at District Administration Office Parsa urging the latter to take necessary initiatives to return their land from Indian side.

According to Miya, Indian farmers recently encroached the Nepali territory belonging to dozens of villagers at Mahadev Patti-6 with the help of border security fgrce of India, Seema Surakshya Bal (SSB). Presenting landownership certificate of the land, he claimed that his eight hectares of arable land was recently encroached by the Indian side.

"When I reached there to cultivate the land recently, the locals of Mainatar and Shisawa of India have already tilled the land for paddy plantation," said Miya. He also claimed that SSB personnel threatened him when he asked over the ownership of his land.

According to Miya, Indian side erected pillars at his land a year ago. "But they told me I could use my land when I complained over the matter," he said.
