>specially catered for the western readers
Gunyucholi,
I think Sitara has already made a disclaimer to that effect by letting us know that she wrote the story for her university’s writing assignment.
>…lack of crudeness in the whole narration. too much
>of icing there…..eastern culture served with a bit of
>curry powder and lots of unwanted garnishes.the floating
>thick layers of exaggeration and manipulation at few
>points are a bit difficult to stomach.
I think the colors were certainly exaggerated and that I believe is due to a certain angle the “prism” was oriented, as you noticed and the writer disclaimed, for a special observer.
In any case, Sitara did create a symphony of very rich imageries. I was trying to say that with the image I posted. I was also trying to think cinematically. A style that came to my mind was Chinese director Zhang Yimou’s “Ju Dou” (1990). Remember the stunning color effects of the dyed fabrics in the dye mill ?
