Manjul was born in 1947 in Bhojpur District in the eastern hills of Nepal.

He gained renown as a singer of songs protesting the Panchayat regime in Nepal.

He was one of the member group of political activist against conservative and rackless Panchayat regime during 2035 to 2039. Shambu Rai, Manjul, Lochan, J.B tuhurey was on the political activist group during that time.

He is the author of a number of poetry collections, a work of fiction and a travelogue. His translations of Wayne Amtzis' photo-poems have appeared in Nepali journals and newspapers. His work can be found online at spinybabbler and Jouvert.
