Song Background:
DiDi (Khaled)- 1992
This is the song that created ripples
in the minds of fundamentalists so much so that poor Cheb Khaled had to
leave his country and settle in France fearing threat to his life. His
signature song, Didi, became extremely popular in the Arabic-speaking
countries and also in several other countries, including India and
Pakistan. The song was also used in a Bollywood film titled Shreeman
Aashiq.
Khaled and Don Was appeared on the "The Tonight Show" on February 4, 1993.
The
song was covered by Turkish pop singer Tarkan for his 1992 debut album
Yine Sensiz and as an English song by German-based duo Milk & Honey.
