Agreed, but then there are different set of corollaries to different criminal charges, gurkha's case was a lower tier misdemeanor which is not punishable for a year of imprisonment. Such acts are too generic to be applied to each individual's case. But yes, you have to admit that you were convicted and served a minor term/court appearance but not under a moral turpitude. I received my green card after 9/11 and I know many others who were involved in domestic violence in US (they were non nepalese) but were granted Canadian permanent residency.
