I have never seen Gyanedra without Nepalese Topi on his head until before his recent India-visit. To see him without the Topi was a kind of surprise to me. The Topi is not only fashion or decoration, but also is the symbol of nationalism for we nepalese people. The new get-up must be the gesture of his new thoughts.

I have no confusion that Gyanendra lost his throne due to some of his stupidity but he did not bow down to Indian Establishment. He brought China in SAARC and pressed Manmohan Singh to take strong measure against terrorists. He did not accept Indian pressure to award Nepalese citizenship to 40 lakh + homeless indians. He did everything he could to prevent Indian influence, and we know the result : he is dethrone in the end. He was having his TOPI all the time in those days.

Now, he might have realized the power and influence of Indians. He also might have realized that nepalese people are not wise enough to recognize patriots and honest leaders. Those who can order killing ordinary people gets elected with overwhelming votes. Those who talks about consensous, peace, understanding, development and human rights gets washed out in the election.

Therefore there is no point in sticking rigid for the nation. Those who put the nation before anything else have always ended up in tragedy in their life. Perhaps he is changed and changed his get-up. No more TOPI on his head, no more feeling for the nation.  Perhaps, that is why the political equation is changing and a new game plan is being drafted in Delhi.
