KATHMANDU, Feb 26 - Young Communist League, the youth wing of the Unified CPN (Maoist), which on Wednesday merged with its parallel front of CPN-Ekata-Kendra (Masal), has warned of taking action against "criminals and the corrupt."

Addressing a mass meeting to mark the unity between the two youth wings at Tundikhel, YCL leaders said they will build strong pressure for the safeguarding of national interest and success of the peace process, as Narayan Kaji Shrestha and Communications Minister Krishna Bahadur Mahara seated next to each other looked amused while the statement drew frantic applause from the crowd.

"If the reactionary forces do not let the government to draft the constitution as per the mandate of "People's War" and the People's Movement, we will draft the new constitution with blood through the barrel of the gun," said Ganesh Man Pun, who continues to remain the head of the combined YCL.

He said YCL will take "legal action" against tax evaders who are trying to hide their income and not abide by the Voluntary Declaration of Income Scheme (VDIS).

"YCL is a militant force born from the People's War and the People's Movement," Pun warned. "All the duplicate forces modeled after YCL will be eliminated sooner or later," Pun said.

Addressing the gathering, Central Committee leader of the Unified CPN (Maoist) and YCL In-charge Kul Bahadur KC said YCL should act like a "tiger" to stop any type of counter revolutionaries and campaign to stop border encroachment.

The guests at the mass meeting, deputy leader of Unified CPN (Maoist) in parliament Narayan Kaji Shrestha and Minister for Information and Communications Krishna Bahadur Mahara urged YCL to act as a watch dog during the peace process and constitution drafting period.
