The Declaration of Insanity of Thomas Jefferson

Dear Thomas Jefferson,

Sir, I didn't quite finish my thoughts in my last letter to you. So I continue.

Sir, as I was telling you about our recent Illinois governor, what I'm learning, sir, is that accountability doesn't start from the top, it starts from the bottom. Like I said in my last letter to you, Sir, I'm holding myself accountable for what happens in this great nation of ours. My realization, in the great spirit of accountability, my dear Mr Jefferson, is that when I get a hold of you in heaven, I'm holding myself accountable for kicking your ass.
Tom, in a world where $50 billion dollars can be hidden from the SEC but Illinois Governor is not considered guilty despite being caught on tape, nothing is self-evident.

What in hell was self-evident to you back then? Thomas, I want you to know that you've ruined this country with you and your damned self-evidency. "It is evident to me, the great Jefferson, that all men are created equally." Oh how freakin high and mighty of you.

What I am not understanding is why is it that which was so evident to you is not evident to me. I see lots and lots of proof to show that we are very much not equal in this world. What could you have possibly observed or experienced as to make this absurd assumption that all men are created equal?
