A whole year gone by; I am sitting here in my office thinking thick and think of 08’. I personally have had enough of routine nine-to-five job but I said same thing last year. At the beginning of this year, I accentuated with a strong believe 2008 would be a different—this year will bring the fundamental change in my life—not so lucky personally but did in a way in US presidential election. Candidate with message of CHANGE scurried swiftly in November fourth. I knocked down few bottles of wine on that very night only to report late at work next morning. I was probably in a reverie that something from somewhere will pop up into my life and everything will go alright in auto-pilot motion. It reminds me a story of a young girl who snubs every marriage proposals in a hope of becoming princess of a great land. She waits, waits and waits and one day a prince out of nowhere shows up and asks the girl to be his bride and they live happily ever after. Unfortunately, I am the only character of my story, a lousy one. Even more galling is it does not look appealing in 2009 either. I surely do not want to bang my head against the rough wall, so I am taking another chance on the eve of New Year. I am injecting more time again, three hundred sixty five days an equivalent of eight thousand seven hundred and sixty hours to mend defects and make it right.

Beamed by “New Nepal- Dream” episodes of clips in youtube.com, it threw me in a state of phantasm. And, I have to talk it through with few buddies about that fancy epic. The sky scrapper, the rail road tunnel that runs from coast to coast, the colossal revenue from Hydro power, the hoards of foreign laborer coming to Nepal to make end meets, my best ones are Nepal deliberately making larger donation to West and US and downplaying the Indian government.  Awe, what an outstanding work of art! The recurring question is: Is that possible? Can Nepal be what it was shown on that clip? How long it will take to get there? Who will lead to advance our country? Well, I can easily blame to our politicians, condemn our bureaucrats, scorn off the diplomats or above all. If only if that will resolve the matter at hand. I therefore believe that is not going to haul a thing and I am not going to pinpoint a person or institution or a thing. Furthermore, I will say this, I am one of them. I am the politician who governs Nepal, the bureaucrats who administer the current business affairs or set the policies and the futile diplomats who are appointed not based on merit but solely on political connection.

OR, I can also say—forward looking-- will be catalyst to unify North and South, East and West, Pahadi and Madhesi and those who have and who have not. Furthermore, I will be part of that generation who together will build “New Nepal- Real”. I can be whoever I want to be and you could be whoever you want to be. I can aspire to become most corrupted administrator, edacious business person, intransigent politician or the opposite-- an asset of the greater society. I prefer to be the later one. The whole point of posting this resolution here is I want to be loud and clear on New Year’s Eve. I want to echo my saying; I am going to be an element of the greater part. The road less traveled but honorable, and a call of duty. To be clear: not that I was passive in the past but want to be strong-willed and dynamical in coming days. We may not get there liken in youtube anytime soon but every effort matters especially at this difficult time. Wish you all a very happy New Year!
