I never heard of killings in such a large number during the panchayat. I know Nepal has been better in a lot of sense after panchayat but we have also fallen behind greatly as far as the most basic aminities like Safety and security are concerned. Of course you can shout now for killing and goverment will give 10 Lakhs which seems to be standard rate to keep the people's mouth shut.
People who earn their living by working on day to day basis on roads are on dire strait now with Banda, chakkajam and hadtaal.
Nepal was peaceful before because we only had one faith . THE KING. So people used to leave in harmony. Now people have multiple faith in the name of parties, colour, religion and origin. Some are behind Girija, Some are behind UML, Some are after Prachanda. Each head of the party are on the mission to save their Goons. Prachanda is on mission to save YCL . If you are the member of prachanda there is a good chance that you won't be caught even after you commit crime. PRACHANDA is the saviour of YCL. Our faith is divided. Thats why there is always a conflict.
Infact , the amount of development in infrastructure that took place during the time of Mahendra is still exemplary. Nepal's main backbone The Mahendra rajmarga was built during his time. No further main road of such a significance have been added during the last 20 years . Many schools, colleges built during those times still leads other in Nepal. You may say Communication was developed after 2046 . But hey, didn't it developed all over the world. There is no point to say nepal wont have developed in this field if there was no Prajatantra.
I would love to have king back. I would also love to have Army patrolling Kathmandu like they did during king's rule so that capital was a safe place to live at. Now see what has happened. Kathmandu is dead by 8 PM at night because of the weird new law of closing everything early. The result 4 people are brutally killed . Including 2 innocent children . Experts have said the incidence wont have happened had kathmandu been vibrant as before.
King has more grace than party members. During the 2 years before kings exit all the parties were alleging king " King will do this, king will do that to stop election, kill people......create chaos". But king remained relatively silent . Why? He was graceful even in his exit.
