Ram Chandra would have save not only $1000 per month but his entire money (may be would worked in gas station leaving Phd behind) for sake of treating his brother, but there is a time constraint. He is admitted in Appolo hospital in Delhi and doctors are demanding immediate money for the treatment. Moreover, as noted by ctal its an acute liver failure (which needs an immediate attention) and as noted by purush, he has a wife and a small daughter whom he had to take care of too.
