I don't know how old you and your girlfriend are...but i think separating  due to Ego issues is in correlation with age and maturity. When someone is at a mature level and have mature outlooks then that means they throw away Ego's and give to the other person unconditionally. You're right, u cant be in a relationship if u got too much ego. Relationships is about compromising, changing for the better for the sake of that special person, willing to forget about pride and think about the others feelings completely. You and you're girlfriend aren't ready for a serious relationship..but if u truly love each other then why u want to seperate over something that can be fixed maybe not now but in the near future. Remember u dont know what u got til its gone..then it's probably too late to get her back even if you lose the Ego. So you're just going to keep your Ego's with everyone u are with and then keep seperating? Now how will u sustain any serious committed relationship at any time in your life? I'm sure u or your girlfriend want to get married (with whoever) so you'll have to mature out in order for that to be successful. Think about how much she means to u...can u see life without her? If u cant then i hope u dont make a regrettable decision.
