Please, can anyone tell me how to detect earthquakes? I need it for my presentation. I did couple of research on google, but I was not able to find the convincing answers. Even I ended up on a website that sell earthquake alarm detector. That is not what I am looking for.

I know Seismometer measure and records the motion of the ground.

Anything might help.
