The former prime minister and leader of the main opposition party in the Constituent Assembly, on Monday, suggested Khanal not to pelt stones at others, referring to the UML’s present situation as ‘being in a glass house’.

Talking to journalists in Biratnagar before returning to the capital today, the octogenarian leader said that Khanal’s remarks sound like outcry of a defeated mentality.

About the CPN-Maoist chairman, he said, “Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal is trying to correct himself by accepting his mistakes.”

“I have emotional and personal relations with Dahal, but when it comes to matter of democracy and political stance, I will not compromise with anyone,” he said.

Koirala ruled out the possibility of NC joining the Maoist-led government.

Mentioning the relations between the government and the NC is not cold, he said, “The NC is just staying away from the government’s wrongdoings and behaviour. The NC will not join the government at any cost, but will stay in the opposition and assist the government.”

He was quick to add that the prime minister must take the responsibility if something goes wrong with the peace process.
