If you look at what a teenager knows now versus ten years back you will find that the teenager now knows a lot more. And that is because of new development in the world that give easy access to information. Comparable income groups will have easier lives than in the past because of development in science. People may live longer because of better health related discoveries.

It is naive at best to credit the maoist insurgency for increased standard of living in Nepal. This increased standard of living is seen in all regions as you can see in your own graph and not only in Nepal.
