sorry to be the bearer of bad news :
a. there is no grace period.
b. its better to find sponsoring employment as soon as possible
for h1b transfer you would need to attach your last 2 recent pay-stubs so
depending on your pay period [ if you can file transfer within a month ] you would be safe.
pushing beyond 2 month is risky but i have seen people who have had their transfer approved after 3 months.(just 1)
but mostly after 1.5 months gap you would start getting rfe
