for others interested, companies like ambit energy say they will reduce your bill UPTO 7% for TWO MONTHS. Note the catch word UPTO and TWO MONTHS. After that the rate can be and is usually higher than what you get from ConEd ( in New York).
There is no escaping ConEd in New York as of now as its a monopoly.
