Minister Yadav’s conduct a mockery to rule of law: UML

KATHMANDU, Sept 16 - The CPN-UML on Tuesday accused Minister for Land Reforms and Management Matrika Prasad Yadav of being irresponsible and condemned the land and private property recapture in his leadership at Mirchiya VDC in Siraha district.
Issuing a press statement today, the CPN-UML central office said that Minister Yadav’s actions have mocked the rule of law rather than assuring security to the commoners and maintaining peace and security in the country.
The UML further said that Minister Yadav’s deeds have breached the agreements made with the Maoists.
The party chided the modus operandi the minister took to, which, the statement says, even a civilised citizen should not go for.
The CPN-UML, the second largest party in the coalition government which also holds the home portfolio, has demanded stern actions against Minister Yadav, Constituent Assembly members Mahendra Paswan and Dilip Sah for flouting the government’s bid and trying to take law in their own hands.
On Sunday evening the police under orders from Home Minister Bamdev Gautam had demolished the huts and evacuated the Maoists and landless squatters forcefully occupying the 16-room two-storied house of Birendra Sah and 11 bighas of land belonging to 67 different people.
However, later yesterday an armed Maoist squad in Minister Yadav’s leadership recaptured the building and land. The police had to retaliate from the place anticipating further tension in the region.
