I have stayed in Delhi for 4 years as an student. And i have faced lots of trouble in IGIA.

My suggestion is simply avoid Delhi. It will cost you more than saving. Even if you are sure that you can save $1000 then also avoid delhi. But if you are travelling withought any gift for your family and no new electronics items then you can choose the route via delhi.
