Micheal Phelps is the best swimmer of all time, there's no doubt. Even Mark Spitz thinks that MP would have edged him out.
And for the title of the best Olympian ever... he will prove that too in four years in London. As of now, if he is not the 'Best Olympian,' there is no one better than him. Even in swimming, there are specialties and every swimmer does his/her best only in those events. But, MP won in eight different events including seven in world record time.
