Good point about not revealing one being a student All the way.

dd_sh - I had SSN when I opened my bank of America account but I don't really think it truly matters. I might be wrong.

Also, whoever tried to make that brilliant suggestion of giving 2000 bucks as a collateral to get a Credit Card with a limit of 2000 dollars is talking utter rubbish. Can't believe someone would actually think about depositing that big of an amount for a year!! What world are you living in?

By the way. There is only one thing you need to be careful about. Just make sure that there is no annual fees whatsoever. Don't worry about the APR. What you've gotta do is use the card on a regular basis for petty expenses for 3-4 months and after that not only your Credit Score will soar up, you can actually put in a request to increase your credit limit and lower the APR.

Having said that spend wisely. I currently have a debt of around 7000 dollars myself.
