hahaha..BM, okay i must have been unclear in my last post. i was, in specific, not agreeing with the part where you say: A boy and a girl can not remain in a state of 'just a friend' (I prefer it to call  'third state') for a long time.

again, just like 'best friend', 'just a friend' can have several connotations but your statement doesn't hold much meat when you realize that you are friends  (just friends..not close) with so many of them (girls). and there are some of them (at least in my case), with whom you cannot even think to imagine doing anything naughty hahaha..and this is not because they are any less attractive(physical or otherwise) than some of the other so-called 'chawnker' ones, but it's just that the feeling (the chemistry) is not there. however, that does not discount the fact that they still are good friends of yours.

and i don't know the definition of 'best friends' but i tend to agree with yours however you seem to have pretty clear stance on the sex part with best friends but i believe that sometimes, it might not be the case and while sex may be present there in some form, somewhere and someday (meaning... in thoughts if not in actions, once a month if not everyday and in timbucktoo if not in texas ), i don't think two best friends (a girl and a boy) must be having a hardcore sexual relation (if that is what being in domain of sex means).
