Why my/our culture is at fault for the actions of our football team? What is "culture"? What is human nature? J. Krishnamurti once said "culture is the soil in which the beautiful flower of life grows".
No - fighting, cheating, stealing, drinking, corruption, adultery and all the bad that happens in every society is NOT my culture, is NOT what I was taught while growing up.
When I was little we had a hired a labor to do some work at the backyard. I offered him money for tea aside from his wage, he refused to take it when I asked him why his response was "I will not take anything that I did not work for, I did not work for that extra money you are offering me. I do not want to be indebted (rin) which I will have to pay in this life form or another" His response made me speechless. That is my culture where there was honesty and people felt responsible for their actions.
(kidnapping - is an organized crime that happens in every corner of the world not just Nepal)

The politics of tire burning, road blocking, damaging public properly is a leaned behavior which we inherited from our neighboring nation. I am sure this will end once the law that will prohibit these activities are enforced.

We should be proud of who we are. We should know about our own culture, understand it to better understand who we are. Just like J. Krishnamurti says how can a flower blossom if it does not understand or acknowledge the very soil it grows on?
