ACC Trophy Elite: Nepal v UAE (Semi-final)

In Cricket Talk — By Binodbikash on Thursday, July 31, 2008

The d-day has come for Nepal.  UAE has qualified for almost every Asia Cup as far as we can remember. Nepal must give everything to overcome UAE, probably the best non test playing nation in Asia.
Nepal have won 8 out of their last 10 outing ( 1 loss and 1 no results) and have been in their prime but the national team have chokced at crucial times. No any Nepali cricket lover would ever forgot the loss at Jersey from the hands from eventual winner Afghanistan. The wound was deeper than just the tournament loss as it erased the faint hope of qualifying for the World Cup 2011.
Nepal have played many match against the UAE, with the most result in favour of UAE. However, Nepali cricket fans would not ever forget the famous win at TU ground.  A loss here at Malaysia on friday means no any ODIs in near future for Nepal.

The statistics here shows Nepal are a better team than UAE so far in this tournament.  UAE lost its opening match against tournament outsider Saudi Arabia but have overcome strongly winning against WCL Div 5 winner Afghansitan and host Malaysia.
Nepal still have the problem in its top order and the lower order havent batted so far in this tournament. The middle order boosted by the presence of Paras, Shakti and Gyanendra have won all the matches so far. Binod Das has not been able to show his charisma yet.

Will Nepali batsman be able to fire against the strong UAE bowling line up?
Will the opening batsman be able to score big score?
Will Nepal senior side make it into its first ever major finals?
How long will Nepal have to wait to play its first ever ODI?
