See if you are missing Drivers for the Network Cards...

Right Click on My Computer -->Properties..>Device Manager -->Network Adapters

If there is a Question Mark next to the adapters, it might be a driver issue.....Try reloading the device drivers..or uninstall the device, and reboot you PC and let XP detect it again.....
