Let me give u one more example. I was a teacher for orphan children at this INGO in Lalitpur. The INGO was responsible for giving housing, food and proper education for orphans and sometimes physically disabled children.

I was attached to the kids. I felt I was doing something right but the head of the INGO was a jerk. He was so much consumed in the commission business that u would say he would even sell his near ones for some dollars. How can u sell the faces of those innocent kids. When the donors (foreigners) would come to visit, he would make them dress well, ask them to smile and once the donors would be gone things were back to  normal. The kids never understood the business coz they were so young and innocent. He finally fired me saying I couldn't bring progress. Actually he was scared I might spill the beans. The irony is he had to call me back coz the kids specifically requested him to bring me back. I was struggling and had no jobs so I accepted the offer.

To date I believe that was one of the most satisfying jobs of my career. those innocent faces, the joy, the innocence, and the feeling that I could contribute made me feel really good. But the person who ran the INGO was simply selling the happy faces to get more commission and more donation.

Again, corruption, at the cost of orphan kids.
