Always a pleasure to read your thoughts. In fact, I share some of your 'skepticism' - I just prefer to look at them as concerns. The question on my mind is can Obama, or any president for that matter, steer the US away from fossil fuel dependence? There is plenty of reason to be skeptical there including those reasons you mentioned. I don't think the US or the world will be totally off fossil fuels till the last oil well dries up. My only hope, and that of many others, is that the proportion of non-fossil fuels used in the US increases to a point where  a gradual weaning away from oil becomes possible over the years. That gives you plenty of time to coax, cajole or coerce big oil into falling in line.  I may like Obama but I am not that much of a Obamaniac to believe he could turn the country green with a touch of his wand - LOL!! It is an uphill task no matter who is President like you said.

BTW, your modesty nothwithstanding, your have pretty well informed opinions yourself. Some of the best that I have run into on Sajha on matters ranging far and wide :) I hope to see you sounding off more on topical issues.
