I think your view is biased towards Ranas and Shahas. I am not Koirala fan as well.
Truth is ONE: Ranas loved their asses to be licked. They are the ones who started "chakiri baaj and afno maanche in Nepal. You lick their ass they give you job and in return you have toto show up in their so called palace(virtual kingdom) once a day so that Rana Babu is secured that you are not revolting or you are not away from their grasp.
I really wanted to read the book(PhD dissertation) written by Dor Bahadur Bista, we discussed about that book in our Sociology class.
Nepal needs Kingdom as an institution or monarchy as a symbol to unify our brothers and sisters from different ethnicity. But did not happen, pretty sad. But, the good thing is, "no monarchy means no Shah or Rana, Rani" and their so called virtual kingdom. This is a great breakthrough in abolishing the caste system in Nepal. That is the only positive impact I could see in future. If, Ranas and Shahas had a sense to change as did Britishers in India and White Americans in US would have been better , a strong SUSTAINABLE NEPALI KINGDOM.
