Well whatever you saw in www.notcanada.com is bitter truth for Canadian immigrant. Keeping in mind that you may not get job in your field and still wants to consider immigrating to
Kalopani, I see that you have masters degree without any work experience. Working in front desk won't help you. To be eligible for skilled worker you work experience must be listed on Job title Category A NOC, If you do not find you job title in the list then you can not claim points for that work experience. It seems like you may not get any points from US local job until unless you have any other work experience back home, make sure don't lie anything as everything will be verified before any decisions are made. As far as refugee is concern, I don't see why any one in status will claim for refugee as this category is reserved for refugee and illegal people, I fear you may not fit into this category. The best goal will be to secure a position in US itself and then collect work experience which will qualify you for skilled worker.
I hope this posting will help to answer many of your question.
