Ear hair - Bio Question

I have a wierd project for Biology and I have a presentation on this topic.
"Recently an Indian man made it into the Guiness Book of Records with hairs
growing on his ears 20 cm long!!! Since the ancestors of humans were other
primates like chimps, orang utans and gorillas, what happened to the tufts
of hair growing on most mammalian ears? Why don't all humans have hairs
growing on their ears (or in their ears?) and why seem such ear-hairs to be
restricted to male individuals?"

I was wondering if anyone had some information.

Also, I was wondering if someone had access to the following journals:

http://www.blackwell-synergy.com/doi/abs/10.1111/j.1365-2133.1966.tb12161.x?journalCode=bjd

Please email me at gundrukbhaat@yahoo.com

Any help would be highly appreciated. And since this is a presentation, I am allowed to seek help so you are not partaking in anything morally wrong :)
