Very recently I was faced with a similar situation, though not in a personal level. The other person having this discussion with me (who also recently had a baby) had these requirements in the baby's naming:
1. cannot sound funny in English
2. should be max 2 syllables
3. should be extractable in English short form (eg Brijesh -> Brij)
Do you have any constraints? Also, a lot of couples begin their children's name with their own (only one of their own) first letters. And the naxatra, graha, raashi etc also are important to some.
