The soul of a good person....

I can understand your thoughts with regards to Royalty. The reasons you stated are the very reasons why monarchy is facing its final days, anywhere in this world. Its the same here in Malaysia. Once upon a time, we were also under the rule of Kings but all that came to a controlled end when the ruling democratic party curtailed the King's powers. What I was trying to express was the fact that Kings will be Kings. They do what they have to do based on various reasons and/or advices from their right-hand man. That's the way monarchy always has been. But like you said, times change and inevitably people change but the monarchy does not. Looking at it in micro, one can compare it to how fathers rule their homes. How many homes are 'democratic'? The father as head of the home has the last say and in some cases, the only say. We all know the end result to such situations. Similarly, the monarchy faces the same situation and we must understand that. But not necessarily accept that. Again like you said, Royalties are, after all, HUMAN. What happens is, most people forget that. That's why they are condemned to death.

It is due to our own ignorance that leads us to look upon monarchs as demi-gods. Here too, you cannot blame yourself because your forefathers were in the same boat. Do you think it would be so easy for a father to relinquish his status in the family to a young upstart of a son? The father would teach his son to love, honor and respect the King and be prepared to die for him, if he must. But the son cares two hoots for the king and his father. In his decision to rebel against the King, it is also a decision to rebel against the father's role. What does your grandfather think of his king? Bet you, the king is his demi-god. Can you then call your grandfather - stupid?

See my friend, people are in different stages in life and hence, their individual perspectives are different. So, we the younger generation (I believe you are young) must try to understand the situation as it once was but at the same time, move towards change as long as the people of a country benefit. Democracy is not the only road to paradise.
