Heartbeat,

With due respect, I have to disagree with you on few things you pointed out and please allow me to add extensions to some of the things you said. Let's see...

She stood beside her King, through life and death.

Hmmm... I don' know how much she stood beside him when they were alive but death was certainly not her choice, not anyone's for that matter. Let's not get too emotional about the fateful incident at the cost of rationality.

In fact the Royal Family has no choices at all. Once a decision is made, they stick to it, right or wrong.

That's precisely why I think monarchy stands where it does now---on the verge of extinction. When you cannot revert your actions/steps even when knowing they are blatantly wrong, democracy--which demands for experimentations and improvisations--suffers. You can't afford to do that when/if you are committed to remain within the periphery of democratic framework where actions are constantly subjected to correction/upgrade mode with respect to time for the betterment of people and the nation.

How heavy is your burden? Your burden is as big as your family. But the Royal Family bears the burden of an entire nation.

That's why it's ridiculous to expect all royalties--descendants of perhaps one great person--to deliver for the greater goods of  people all the time. Not everyone can sustain the burden on their shoulders, let alone carry it gracefully and lead the nation. Royals are humans and humans make errors and that's why the need to rectify those errors which royals sadly can't/don't.

We instead chose to revere them as demi-gods. How stupid can one get than that?
