Experience, Inc. Finds that Accounting and Engineering are the Hottest Job Functions in '07

Boston, MASS, 12/06/2007 - Experience, Inc., the nation's leading provider of career services for college students and alumni, today revealed its third annual Placement Survey which measures the outcomes of job offers to each graduating class.

The job functions in the greatest demand by U.S. and international employers were engineering (18.8%) and accounting (12.0%). These two job functions also offered the highest median salary, paying between $46,000 and $50,000 annually for accounting and $51,000 and $55,000 annually for engineering.

Industries that placed the highest number of candidates include:
Finance (17.6%)
Education (14.1%)
Consulting (8.9%)
Manufacturing (8.5%)
Accounting (8.0%)

When searching for employment opportunities, new grads found university career centers to be the most effective resource, along with online resources such as Experience.com (33.6%), applying directly to the company (23.8%), and face-to-face networking (16.8%).

Other findings include:
53% of respondents held one or more internships prior to getting their full-time job
36% of jobs were filled in the Northeast; 27% in the Midwest
18% of respondents received stock options in 2007
Overall median starting salary was $41,000-$45,000

Survey Methodology
Experience's 2007 Job Placement Survey polled 2007 college graduates from May to September 2007. College students who opted-in to receive communication from Experience were invited to participate in the online poll. 584 members from 200+ colleges and universities across 49 states and Canada completed the survey.
