Yes, you can file a joint tax return. You need to apply for your wife's ITIN (Individual Tax Identification Number) along with your tax return documents. You cannot do an e-file, you have to send in the papers i.e your joint tax return, ITIN application and notarized passport/visa photocopy of your wife. This is a long process though which takes 2-4 months to process. Hope it helps.
