Geda Gudi,

I dont get your point. I thought language among others is a source of national identity. How can we do away with that?

Now, if we allow Yadav to take oath in maithili, somebody else would want to do the same in Newari, bhojpuri, and so on and so forth.... The fabric of our unity is tenous at best right now, and introducing these trivial majors will invite more chaos.

Once we allow oaths to be taken in different languages, how about the use of ethnic language for written communcaiton? do you support that also? Because I can see the maoists demanding that pretty soon. If thats the case, well, you and I  will need a translator next time we visit the government offices in our own country.

Individual/ethnic freedom, identity etc.are all very important and nepali society has been relatively tolerant regarding the use of ethnic language. I dont think anyone had issues with folks from janakpur speaking in maithili, or newars in ktm speaking in newari..of course, until these lunatics (i mean maoists) started the mayhem. But if we push the idea of lingustic freedom too far, i dont know what remains of our nationality/identity...

Yeah...and the constitution of my country says nepali is the officaial language. Without any amendment, I am not willing to let that SOB Yadav do whatever he wants......
