friendship,
love doesn't happen with one shot of tequilla....like you just take the shot, lick the salt, squeeze some lemon and boom! "i am in love" hahahahahahaha..it takes ample time to grow feeling for someone into somebody.

so my humble suggestion:
start out being a friend of his. know him closely enough so that there is no 'risk' whatsoever in starting out a serious relationship. grow over those typical romantic movies plot girl. you cannot be liking someone over a length of a romantic song: "mujhe neend na aaye, neend na aaye" hahahaha

and what you mean by "it's about time"?? love happens, you cannot force someone to like you. but you can better yourself to make yourself likable for more number of people so give yourself a chance. be his friend first... rest time will decide...
