MAKURAMANCHE SOLTEE THANXs FOR UPLOADING ALL THOSE VIDEOS HOI.  SOMETIMES I WONDER WHERE YOU GET ALL THESE GOOD STUFFS FROM.......?

THESE KIND OF VIDEO ALWAYS BRING ME MEMORIES OF MY DAYS GROWING UP IN THE CAMP! FROM THE DISTINGUISH SOUND OF PIPES AND DRUMS TO THE SHEER VOCAL PITCH OF NCO MAMA GIVING ORDERS TO THE RECRUITS. FROM THE SIGHT OF MAMAs MARCHPASSING SO SMARTLY ON THE PARADE FIELD TO THE SMELL OF MAMAs AFTER THEIR HARD INTENSIVE TRAINING.

NO MATTER WHERE I GO, WHAT I DO, THESE THINGS WILL ALWAYS BE PART OF ME.

LIKEWISE TO ALL OTHER BANJAs AND BANJIs, HOPE YOU WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER OUR FOREFATHERs AND FATHERs DEEDs.

FOR WITHOUT THEIR CAUSE AND SACRIFICE WE WOULDN’T BE WHERE WE ARE NOW.

FOR THOSE WHO HATE US, WE STILL LOVE YOU ANWAY.

ANYWAY AFTER READING SUMEDHA VIEWPOINT WHICH I FAIL TO DO EARLIER, THERE ARE TWO VIEWS HE MADE THAT IS RELEVANT TO LAHURE COMMUNITY.

1.      THE SO CALL CYCLE OF “LAHUREISM”

After all who wouldn’t want to follow up his father’s footstep which he himself has taken from his father and him from his father and him from his father.

Because it’s a honor and prestige to follow the tradition, the cycle of “lahureism” will not go away that easily from the lahure community.

Two factors are to be blame for the cycle of “lahureism”

·        Opportunity----Because it is there.

As long as UK and other country continue to seek Gurkhas service, it will never die out.

·        Socio-Economic condition back home

Till the condition of Nepal improves drastically and jobs are available without discrimination, Nepalese will continue seeking foreign employment.

2.   EDUCATION

Sumedhu has criticize the lahure community because of our failure (banjas and banjis) base on the education comparison with the common Nepalese folks. His assumption is that we are narrow minded----banjas becoming another lahure, banjis lahureni, others returning to HK.

He is literally correct to say that and we cannot blame him since every person is entitle to own opinions.  Sumedhu is totally correct if this was implied to the first generation banjas/jis.

The second generation banjas/jis continue the lahure tradition and culture. More importantly many utilize the ID and return to HK.

But lately, Sumedhu needs to know that the third generation banjas/jis are more educated than our predecessors. The third generations have gain better access to the education and many are more scholarly than before. Though the lahure tradition and culture still continues, it is not as much as before. Sumedhu presently there are many banjas/jis studying in the institute for higher eduation in many foreign colleges/universities. Many of them have graduated with engineering and other highly sort degrees.

Though banjas/jis have not make any impact in Nepal’s society or elsewhere, there is progress going on. We have to realize that the janajatis/indigenous people of Nepal were far behind not only in socia-economic status but in education level as well when compared to Newars and Brahmin community when our forefathers started enlisting for the British.

Therfore given time, maybe 5-10 years, depending on the stability of Nepal, I believe that banjas/jis will soon be making contributions to Nepal’s society with Western idea in Asian values for that's how we have been brought up.
