POKHARA, Dec 7 - The police Friday arrested two Maoists cadres in Pokhara who thrashed a Swiss tourist for not paying donations to the party at Birethathi on Thursday.

The arrested will be taken to the assaulted tourist for identification and action be taken thereafter, said Superintendent of Police Ramesh Kumar Bhattarai.

“The Maoist commander apologised for the deeds, but we brought them here saying it was our duty,” he added.

Steve Jeannereet, 31, received injuries to the head, hands, thigh and knees on his Annapurna round trekking route when two Maoist cadres thrashed him with a piece of firewood after he refused to pay “donations” as demanded on Thursday.
