cleo,
yeah right!

sndi,
i am not a movie critique but i believe most of us in this thread are movie buffs, albeit of different magnitude of passion/interest.

i personally like SLB's flicks. he makes movies right from his heart with a lot of passion--at least he tries to. his products may or may not please the audience but there is no denying that this guy has tremendous knowledge and talent in film-making. i don't know where saawariya belongs to in terms of liking by the audience. he chose new budding artists this time, unlike in his previous flicks, and made them work their butt off. one thing that he came up well in this is that he was able to pull out noticeable performances from the debutants-- ranbir in particular. the only debacle (may well be the major disappointment for most) came through the script itself. the movie is based on a SHORT story whose adaptation into a bollywood movie, which are pretty long by hollywood standard, is questionable in the first place and since he didn't choose to do much customization, there is not much meat in the story and some of the dialogues are also pretty mediocre by the standards SLB had set in his previous movies.
all in all, a disappointing delivery from SLB's standard, but not a bad effort at all by any means--at least when compared to movies by other contemporary directors. i will still recommend this movie to my friend. :D

OSO on the other hand worked for the most part due to SRK. the movie is a full time-pass entertainer (if masalas entertain you that is!).  SRK is a clever person no doubt. more than acting talent, he's being able to cash in from his movies with his personality and wittiness and OSO is no exception and since he is also the producer of the movie, he has done everything (literally) possible to promote it. too much publicity and the larger-than-life image of SRK has made this movie successful and of course, poor show by saawariya helped a great deal but there is nothing really that is worth going down to the history of cinema from this cheap flick IMO.

just musing as thanksgiving break has already started  in my work place, it seems so really! :D

happy thanks giving ya'll
