Available reports say that President Carter would “encourage” the Nepali leaders to gear up for the constituent Assembly polls.
However, neither the Carter Center-Nepal Chapter nor Carter himself know that when
President
Carter should better understand that Nepali leaders’ unite as and when
they “see” personal or “Party” benefits accruing from such a unity or
else they prefer more often than not to keep at a distance with each
other.
Carter is visiting
This is meaningful indeed but does not offer any hope that Carter would provide a magic formulae so that the parties would unite. Oh! Yes Prachanda will be more than happy upon meeting this modest and towering US persona. But can Carter influence the US administration? Forget!
Analysts
would wish to advise President Carter to convince the Indian
establishment which in effect is the real trouble maker. Carter must be
reminded that it was the Indian "adhesive" that brought the ever
quarrelling parties together in 2005 November for overthrowing the
monarch who remained instrumental in bringing China-the arch rival of
India-into the mainstream South Asian Regional Cooperation-the SAARC.
Some
even say that the current political deadlock in Nepali politics is
through the Indian kind courtesy which talks different to different
political parties in Nepal-including the Monarchy.
Albeit,
Carter thus will come and go. Indeed, he would be hitting media headlines with no tangible results.
