There had been news in the past about similar dowry-related domestic violence (some murders) in Bahun-Chhettri / Newar communities in Kathmandu as well. So, this problem is not only in one particular community but it is present in the most parts of Nepal.

And if you want to talk about Indian culture and its influence in Nepal, let's face it. Our national dress daura suruwal was influenced by the mughal attire of those times. If we had to pick our indigenous dress as national dress, we should have gone for bhoto and kachhad.
