Ok here i have few advise for u. When u r looking in for best school in Kathmandu please note the following:

1. there is no such called "best" school

2. whats ur definition of "best"school

3. what r ur abilities to pay the school fees

4. there r lots of good school in Ktm but none r the best

5. few schools in Ktm are: St. Xaviers, Budhanilkantha, LA, Galaxy, AVM, Siddhartha Vanasthali, Rato Bangla, GEMS, SOS, Bagmati and many more

6. if ur kid is intelligent or u have some back ups obviously they can make it to St. Xaviers or Budhanilkantha rest if u can pay the fees u can opt for others

7. Its always better to choose schools that is less populated. Schools with big names are not always good

8. Besides schools academic actvities definitely look in for what are the extra curricular activities available. If ur child gets both good academics and good ECA activities they will succeed in life.

9. Definitely choose schools that teach discipline first

10. Find out about the principal of the school and teachers (academics, background, qualifications, reputations etc)

11. Don juss choose school blindly with good academic records. Choose schools that make ur kid become a "human being" i would rather say "all rounded" student with good extra curricular backgrounds. And for this St Xaviers, Budhanilkantha, Galaxy, LA, Raato Bangla are very good. Of course they make u pay!!!!

12. Go to a school and inquire about following activities like:

public speakings/debate/elocution/socialisations/eassy writings/poetry/hostel life/books and course followed/

assessment exams/sports like swimming, cross country race, soccer, gymnastics, martial arts, yoga etc etc

13. Inquire about "How the teachers behave with the students?" "Is there one to one teacher student observation?" I would say each student should have one preceptor and get guidance from them

14. What are the outside school activities available like hiking/educational tour/camping etc

15. Inquire about guest faculties and teachers from other schools and other invited dignitaries who share their life experiences with kids

16. Don't just look in the infrastructure of the school. Look in whats going on inside

17. Shools that allow compulsory ECA with  few other ECA that the student can choose always stand out!!!

18. Don't fall in the trap with schools that always say "we have excellent performance in SLC" SLC is not the only exam ur kid has to face. Its just the beginning. SO admit them in a school that will prepare them for their life

19. Inquire about past students: where r most of them? What do most students become? How r they in personal life? How successful have they become? etc etc

20. Compare ur kids with students who go to few good schools in India esp Darj/Sikkim/D'dun/Mussorie etc and note their performance among each other

21. But always note "Nature vs Nurture": If ur kid is born intelligent they will rock anywhere to some extent but nurture can make them reach their goal and maybe even a step more ond overall nurture increases both the IQ and EQ of ur kids.

Hope this is useful.
