Sudip Gurung of the popular boy band Aastha landed in Kathmandu sometime back from London for the promotion of his first solo effort titled 'Sudip'; to hit the market under the label of SAV. As Sudip
is basically into R&B music, the majority of the songs of this
album would be focusing on the same genre. As informed by him, there
are nine songs in the album and one of the songs titled 'Narisaunu' written by friend and band mate, Naren has been performed by both of them as 'Aastha', a la good ole days. Rest of the songs have been written and composed by Sudip
himself. The lyrics of the songs are based on relationships and a few
on optimism and relevant issues. Talking about music arrangements, he's
worked with Manoj KC of 1974 AD, Sanzip Rai and Gabriel Amah who's also worked with some major international companies. Sudip
has done the acoustic guitar works on the three songs by himself, which
were recorded in the UK, and the rest of the songs were recorded here
in Kathmandu at Phonix Studio.
Further information gathered indicates that Sudip
has already sent his promotional CD's to Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore,
Canada and the UK which containing three songs. He states that he
started writing songs for an album since 2003, the same year he went to
the UK for his studies. He wrote those songs with the intention of
doing an album as 'Aastha' with Naren
in 2004 but because of circumstances, it never materialized due to the
fact that he was not ready with all the songs for an album; other
matters taking up most of his time. "That is how this album happened"
explains Sudip. The album is scheduled to be released by next week. Just to let you know, Naren, the other half of Aastha also released his second solo album 'Aartha'
about a month back and both of them are planning to tour together to
various places in western Nepal for the promotion of their respective
albums. Sudip emphasized on the fact that he and Naren are already making plans of releasing an album by 2009 collectively as Aastha. We wish both of them good luck and best wishes for their albums as well.
