gitanjali,

"Its not me or you who will decide. Time will tell". Agreed.

"Those who come abroad do not fall from the skies." Agreed, but the point raised was about their capacity to have a strong influence on political developments back home.

You're extracting volumes of ideas from a little piece of writing!!! Agreed that you might be a great nationalist but don't have an impression that those who don't think your way are all crooks.

I didn't say urban people have no role in bringing changes, but in fact they have a most important role. What I said is that they are reluctant to come forward and fight for a change unless their day-to-day life is severely affected. The change of 1990 was brought about by an urban uprising only but it was not until life became too tough because of fuel scarcity and some local people died in police firing that the valley locals started protesting en-masse. The 2006 movement, as you know, started from villages in the outskirts and converged into city centers. The urban people definitely supported the movement but I think only a small portion of them really took to the streets, that too to find an alternative to a boring confinement within houses for more than two weeks.

Again, you may have a different opinion about these things.
